Thrombophlebitis migrans including Mondors syndrome and autoimmune hemolytic anemia in ulcerative colitis ; case report and review of the literature

چکیده
Thromboembolic events occur in UC and Crohns disease. Activation of clotting factors and thrombocytosis are common. In ulcerative colitis, increased levels of factor V, factor VIII and fibrinogen and decreased levels of antithrombin III have been demonstrated. Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary emboli affect patients with severe disease and may occur after colectomy. Thromboembolic events in the eye or intracranial vessels have been described. Coombs positive hemolytic anemia has occasionally been reported in patients with ulcerative colitis. In some of these rare cases, hemolytic anemia was the main problem of the patient and was cured by colectomy.

Concurrent Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome and Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia: a case report
Background: Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a life-threatening and scarce disorder characterized by acute renal failure and disease, non-immune microangiopathic hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia, leading to end-stage renal failure or death, and consequently maybe accompanying by extra renal manifestations. Case report: We reported aHUS accompanied by autoimmune hemolytic anemi...

Thrombophlebitis migrans complicating ulcerative colitis has been reported only once previously when it occurred in a patient with chronic and extensive bowel disease. This report describes the occurrence of thrombophlebitis before any bowel upset in a patient who proved to have only a mild colitis, and no laboratory evidence of hypercoagulability. It seems that thrombophlebitis migrans is a fu...
متن کاملA Unique Triad: Ulcerative Colitis, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, and Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia
Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune disorder leading to chronic intestinal inflammation. It can present with a wide range of associated extra-intestinal manifestations. We present a case of an 18-year-old man diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, autoimmune hemolytic anemia and primary sclerosing cholangitis during the same hospitalization. The unique triad of these diseases gives important clues ...

Infliximab is a monoclonal antibody that antagonizes the activity of tumor necrosis factor alpha to induce and maintain remission in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Adverse effects associated with Infliximab infusions include infusion reactions, risk of infections, development of hematological malignancies, and pancytopenia. Autoimmune hemolytic anemia has rarely been reported in ulce...
